Most of us can’t think of Jimmy Buffett without thinking of flower shirts and grass skirts and shorts. He is a tropical paradise man all the way through. You can keep those Margaritas coming. Recently, it was discovered that some people had done a CD but used bluegrass music in place of his original rhythms. Looking on the Internet, this seems to be a new fad. They take country, rock, or pop artists and play them to Bluegrass. The funny thing is it doesn’t sound half bad.
It gives us his more popular songs with a bluegrass twist. Some of the songs included on the Bluegrass Tribute are done with banjos, a dobro, and a mandolin. There is a second Bluegrass album of Jimmy Buffett’s hit out now as well. It is called “Pickin on Jimmy Buffett.” Some of the songs on this album include “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “Come Monday,” “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” and “Havana Daydreamin’.”
Once you go out and find these two collections, you will be trading in your flower shirt for some suspenders and a straw hat. These are really great renditions using your favorite country instruments. So hit your local record store and see if they can be purchased. You won’t be sorry.
