Jimmy Buffett was born as James William Buffett on Christmas Day in the year 1946 and is the son of James Delaney Buffett Jr. and Mary Loraine. Both his parents are no more and he has two sisters, Lucy Ann and Loraine Marie. He spent his childhood in Alabama and did his elementary schooling in St. Ignatius. Jimmy Buffett showed keen interest towards music right from his school days and did his high school at McGill Institute in Mobile, Alabama which is a Catholic school of boys. He attended the Auburn University and this was the place where he first learned to play the guitar.
Jimmy Buffett graduated in 1969 with a BS degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and worked as a correspondent for the leading musical magazine, Billboard in Nashville. Jimmy Buffett got an opportunity to sign with Barnaby records in 1969 and came up with his first of many albums “Down to Earth” in 1970 which only had 200 copies released. He began to subsequently release albums and with each album and world tour and concerts he became a darling to many music lovers all over the world. Jimmy Buffett was a co-owner of the minor league baseball team named Ft Myers Miracle in 1989 and turned out to be a businessman in the year 2000 with a chain of restaurants. Jimmy Buffett, apart from being a singer, song writer is also well known as a book writer, hotelier, TV as well as a film actor.
