Buffett Heats Up Frisco, Texas

Some 27,000 screaming fans were more than thrilled when Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band gave a most electrifying performance at the Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, April 26. This is part of their ongoing “The Year of Still Here” tour. After the curtains came down at the end of what was a brilliant Jimmy Buffett concert, official sources were quick to quote that the crowd that evening can be considered the third largest to have grazed the Pizza Hut Park in the span of three years.

The fans were pleased when the very affable Jimmy Buffett opened the concert with one of his much loved songs “Homemade Music”, followed by gems such as “Tiki Bar is Open”, “Fruitcakes”, “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere”, “Cowboy in the Jungle” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” The crowd also went wild when Buffett belted out a loud version of “Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw”. All in all, he sang three encores to the fans’ delight.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef band will kick start their 2008 Year of Still Here tour tonight in Woodlands, Texas. The wait for the tour season is finally over as the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has the pleasure of hosting the first concert of Jimmy Buffet’s tour season. The tickets for this concert tonight is already sold out and the Parrotheads will be in large numbers to cheer their favorite singer and business tycoon, who even at the old age is determined to perform live for his fans and supporters.

The show is also going to be carried live on Jimmy Buffet owned Radio Margaritaville on the web and fans can listen to the live performance by logging on to www.radiomargaritaville.com. The show will also come live on the Sirius satellite radio network on channel 31 which is also owned by the big man himself. The show will go live on air at 8 pm central time.

Fans of Jimmy Buffett will be glad to hear that he has started rehearsing for his 2008 tour, which is called “The Year of Still Here”. Popular Radio Margaritaville DJ Kirsten was seen popping into the station. When asked for updates, she said that Jimmy and the Coral Reefer Band are hard at work preparing for their new tour. She also further added that they have been rehearsing in an undisclosed location and that Jimmy assures them that this tour will be a special one for fans.

Possible songs that would be included in the tour are “Migration”, “Ragtop Day”, “Landfall”, “Cowboy in the Jungle”, “Homemade Music”, “Tiki Bar is Open”, “Rainy Day Women #12 and 35”, “Fruitcakes”, “Mexico”, “Stars on the Water” and “Gulf Coast Highway”. Jimmy Buffett’s new tour is expected to kick off at Woodlands, Texas on April 21 and will end at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas on 25 October.

Jane Buffet, wife of Jimmy Buffet, donated $50,000 to the New York Center for Autism for its autism education program during the star packed show called “Night of too Many Stars” hosted by Jon Stewart. The show was held on April 13th at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The concert was overbooked as there were performances by Jon Stewart, Matthew Broderick, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Jonah hill, Adam Sandler, Conan O’Brien, and Maroon 5 etc.

 

Jon Stewart requested the audience to donate for the Autism education. Jimmy Buffett and wife Jane who were present at the concert donated the money for educating and serving the children affected by autism and for creating awareness among people about autism. The fans of Jimmy Buffet who were present for the concert appreciated this noble gesture of Jane and Jimmy Buffet. The New York Center for Autism was established in 2003 to support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Fans of Jimmy Buffett were surprised to see the star at a Houston dinner party to honor his friend, John Alexander. 135 lucky people who were at the ZaZa Hotel on Friday were there on invitation to celebrate Alexander’s outstanding career in a lavish dinner titled “John Alexander: A Retrospective.” This dinner-cum-exhibition also features the Texan artist’s collection of 61 exquisite oil paintings and 36 various art work created from the 1970’s to the present day.

Jimmy Buffett was there to lend his support to his long time artist friend but none was more tickled than he was when David Berg, fellow entertainer and singer/songwriter, introduced himself as Jimmy Buffett. The crowd laughed appreciatively and uproariously when the real star, Buffett himself, stood up and clapped in honor of John Alexander.

In other news, Buffett is set to end his tour in Honolulu where his new restaurant “Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber” is set to open its doors to the public in November.

Our last update on ajimmybuffettfan.com reported that Jimmy Buffett will be performing at the newly opened Margaritaville Café, and the concert proved to be a success when Buffett performed to a packed crowd at the scenic café.

The crowd went wild when Buffett appeared at the Margaritaville Café at Glendale, Arizona with Coral Reefer frontman Mac McAnally treated them with an afternoon acoustic show too celebrate the opening of the brand new restaurant. Among songs he sang included favourites such as “Songs You Know By Heart”, a heartfelt version of the acoustic “Changes in Lattitude, Changes in Attitudes”, “Boat Drinks”, “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Volcano”. The crowd cheered as he sang what seemed to be the last song, “Margaritaville” but even that did not deter them from asking for encores. Buffett obliged and belted out “One Particular Harbour” and “Stories We Could Tell”.

It was revealed by Buffett himself that his 2008 tour will kick off Monday, 21st April 2008 at Houston, Texas, ending the momentuous series of concerts at Hawaii.

In the coming Wednesday, on the 9th of April, Jimmy Buffet will belt out some of his popular tracks at Glendale, Arizona and this would be broadcsat live by Radio Margaretville. It is another of the acoustic shows of the great artist and you are sure to have a ball of a time if you have been lucky enough to get the tickets to the concert. He would perform at the Margaretville cafe.

The concert is to mark the inauguration of the cafe. But for those who have not been able to purchase the tickets, you can tune in to Radio Margaretville. Prior to the concert of Jimmy buffet there would be a pre-show party held by Miles Hampton. This party would be followed after a couple of hours by the concert. Jimmy Buffett was at St. Barts last Saturday to perform live in front of his loyal fans at the annual Bucket Regattas racing. The participants of the annual Bucket Regattas race were thrilled to bits to heat their singing icon perform in front of them live for about one and a half hours. Buffett performed on the dock of St. Barts on March 29th and he officially announced that he was kicking off his “The Year of Still Here” tour.

All the Jimmy Buffett fans at the quay were excited and happy to see him perform some acoustical solo performances like “Boat drinks”, “Margaritaville”, “Brown Eyed Girl” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”. He received thunderous applause and cheers from the crowd when he sang the “Boat Drinks” and “Fins” songs. Buffet also sang “It’s five O’ Clock Somewhere” and “Autour du Rocher” for the audience who swayed and danced to his wonderful music and it was a wonderful musical extravaganza on the quay of St. Barts.
