Legendary Chart Room bar might close

Rumors are ripe that the legendary Chart Room Bar where Jimmy first performed

when he landed in Key West in the 1970’s is on its way to be closed down. The

news first came into circulation when an article on the website KeysNews.com

reported that the management is trying to get the legendary bar shut down and

start a new coffee shop or sun glass store. The Chart room has been in running

for the past 40 years is also believed to have been witness to Jim Croce

performing live and Tennessee Williams is also rumored to have passed away at this bar.

The TXT Concerts and IOKA Entertainment are presenting IslandFest on September 7th, 2008 at the IOKA Theater, 55 Water St. Exeter NH. IslandFest is a benefit concert to raise funding and awareness for the “Earth, Sea & Space Center”, a large scale, state-of-the-art educational center to be built on seacoast. This spectacular concert features amazingly talented musicians from 3 bands with very diverse musical backgrounds. Club Trini, Peter Mayer, and Scott Kirby are scheduled to perform. The show also includes several artists currently touring as Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band including Michael Utley, Robert Greenidge, Ralph MacDonald, Nadirah Shakoor, Jim Mayer, Roger Guth. The annual Anguilla Invitational Golf Classic Event will organize an auction of guitar signed by Jimmy Buffet and his friend Banxie Banx to raise funds to support the Teacher Gloria Omololu Institute of Anguilla. The bid offer includes the Fender guitar signed by the two famous personalities, the hard case, authenticity certificate and a DVD of “Live In Anguilla”. This stunning guitar is really a collector’s item with birchwood top and rosewood neck. The reggae artist Banxie and Buffet have performed together in many shows and this guitar was signed by them during the 2007 “Stuck in Paradise “event. Buffet performed at the Newport Folk Festival last Sunday.

The Brighton Community of Education has planned a show named “Salute to Jimmy Buffett” on August 16th at the Brighton Center for Performing Arts. Jimmy Buffett’s tribute band, Parrots of the Caribbean, will perform the hit songs of Buffett like “Margaritaville”, “A Pirate Looks at 40”, “Come Monday”’ and “Cheese Burger in Paradise”. The Parrots of Caribbean band shows are marked with high audience participation and liveliness. The jimmy Buffett fans can expect a vibrant performance from this band at Brighton. The head of the Parrots of Caribbean Band Dave Albrecht is a well experienced person in conducting Jimmy Buffet shows. The reservation tickets are available at the Brighton High School for $20.

The “Year of Still Here” concert tour of Jimmy Buffett at Indianapolis last Tuesday night was one of the most significant performances of this current 2008 tour as it marks the 25th appearance of the veteran singer and songwriter in Indianapolis. The show was a memorable one for the Parrotheads as well as the other people who had gathered in large numbers to listen to Jimmy Buffett. Buffett performed hit songs like “Volcano”, “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, “Come Monday”, “It’s Five O Clock somewhere” and “Brown Eyed Girl” in front of the capacity crowd of over 24,000 at the Verizon Wireless Center. There are a few tickets still up for grabs for the Jimmy Buffet’s show in certain locations.
