The Margaritaville in Charleston, South Carolina was one of 20 stores to be recently hit by no good punk vandals who just want to destroy everything good that Jimmy Buffett has given us. Apparently, the vandals poured glue down the locks of several businesses on King and Market Streets, delaying the start of Black Friday by hours. Groups of locksmiths were called upon to fix the problem.

Before the game began, Florida was a little uneasy about their upcoming matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks. “What’s the point?” murmered many of the players. “It’s not like Jimmy Buf- OH MY GOD, IT’S JI…JI…JIMMY BUFFETT,” they stammered as a cool, calm and collected Jimmy Buffett entered the Florida Gators locker room. As the locker room went silent, Buffett pulled out a red Dry-Erase marker and drew up 5 plays for the Gators team (offense and defense collectively). “This is all you need,” he said before he put his Ray-Bans back on and exited. End result: Gators 56, Gamecocks 6.

Jimmy Buffett performed yet another invite-only concert last week in Istanbul, Turkey. There were about 700 invited guests who were right with him there, singing along, sipping on the margaritas and all that kind of thing. People really seem to enjoy these invitation only events. I can’t blame them, I guess. If I had another musician or group that I really liked, and they played invitation only events, I suppose I would line up too. But since Jimmy Buffett is that person, and he does play mainly invitation only concerts, then I’ll just have to wait and see. Anyway, his concerts seem to be fun for many people and I can certainly understand why!

It was a close battle for the 2008 CMA Musician of the Year award but Mac McAnally (look it up, it’s a real name) was able to squeeze out a narrow win. Back in the 70s, Jimmy Buffett and McAnally collaborated on a number of songs but it was the current on the charts hit “Down the Road” that really solidified his victory this year. He collaborated on “Down the Road” with Kenny Chesney. Get more McAnally information right here.

The Jimmy Buffett special concert that we mentioned a couple weeks ago went down just great. According to LiveReview.com, Buffett’s performance was hard to hear, because everyone in the room was singing with him. But with his combination of big songs and lesser-known songs, plus a host of guest stars, both on recording and live, he was able to fire up his invitation-only crowd. Buffett’s is truly the king of parties and he certainly gave his people a great time this weekend. Are there bigger parties yet to come? After all, he does live down in Florida, where it’s not cold or snowy and wont likely get that way anytime soon. So let’s enjoy it and keep our eyes on his parties.

Jimmy Buffett spent his weekend playing Greatest Hits concerts for the campaign of Barack Obama. We mentioned this last Friday, and it’s really all the Buffett news there is today. He played concerts this weekend in Florida, trying to “Get out the vote” as they say. About 20,000 people showed up at his main concert in St. Petersburg. He also dedicated his encore song to his old friend Captain Tony Tarracino, who passed away that day. Were the fans more Obama fans or more Buffett fans? They were definitely Buffett fans, although most of them were both. But the crowd seems to have known the words to all the songs and had lots of fun that afternoon.
