It was a close battle for the 2008 CMA Musician of the Year award but Mac McAnally (look it up, it’s a real name) was able to squeeze out a narrow win. Back in the 70s, Jimmy Buffett and McAnally collaborated on a number of songs but it was the current on the charts hit “Down the Road” that really solidified his victory this year.
