Playing two shows on the island of Bora Bora, Jimmy Buffet and his band of Coral Reefers raised $40,000 to build a park and playground for Tahitian children. The band was joined during the two shows by Bora Bora local musician John Gabilou and a Tahitian girls’ local singing group.
Bora Bora has long been a favorite port of call for Buffet as the troubadour wrote his famous tune “One Particular Harbor” about one his visits to the island and recorded the track while in Tahiti in 1982. Buffet talked his promoter Tom Moffat into a trip to Tahiti where his music wasn’t known. Jimmy recalls opening for hulu dancers and a beauty contest. No wonder he loves Tahiti so much!
But there’s this one particular harbour
So far but yet so near
Where I see the days as they fade away
And finally disappear

It has been known that it NEVER rains on a Jimmy Buffett concert or showcase. And that statement was proven true last Saturday at Jazzfest. Earlier on Saturday morning, it rained cats and dogs but hours later, a little while before Buffett was slated to appear before a full house at Jazzfest, the dark clouds cleared.
One of the highlights at Jazzfest includes Buffett belting out a memorable acoustic version of “Come Monday”. The crowd was also suitably amused when Buffett spotted a member of the audience wearing a shirt that says “Helping Rebuild New Orleans One Margarita At A Time”, and the jovial crooner instantly offered to swap his own flip flops for that shirt.

Fans of Jimmy Buffett were surprised to see the star at a Houston dinner party to honor his friend, John Alexander. 135 lucky people who were at the ZaZa Hotel on Friday were there on invitation to celebrate Alexander’s outstanding career in a lavish dinner titled “John Alexander: A Retrospective.” This dinner-cum-exhibition also features the Texan artist’s collection of 61 exquisite oil paintings and 36 various art work created from the 1970’s to the present day.
Jimmy Buffett was there to lend his support to his long time artist friend but none was more tickled than he was when David Berg, fellow entertainer and singer/songwriter, introduced himself as Jimmy Buffett. The crowd laughed appreciatively and uproariously when the real star, Buffett himself, stood up and clapped in honor of John Alexander.
In other news, Buffett is set to end his tour in Honolulu where his new restaurant “Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber” is set to open its doors to the public in November.

The ticket sales for the Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef Band at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston did not sell at a very brisk pace as expected. There are two concerts that will be coming up in Houston and tickets for both the concerts were sold last Saturday morning. To everyone’s surprise, the tickets for the Buzzfest, a show that brings out the talented young rock stars to Houston annually, was sold within two hours of ticket issue and the Jimmy Buffett concert had hundreds of good seats still available.
Last year, Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reef Band performed in front of 40,000 packed fans at Minute Maid Park in Houston and the concert was also the biggest draw that was witnessed in the history of Houston. Buzzfest is full day musical festival where fans will be able to see relatively new artists and acts and is a bit cheaper on the pocket as well. Buffett tickets are priced a bit higher and are the highest priced ticket among all the other summer concerts that Jimmy Buffett is undertaking. Buffett will be performing at Houston on the 21st of April and by that time one can be sure that the Parrotheads would have by then purchased all the left over tickets.
