The Ticket News ranking system has the tropical rock music icon and businessman Jimmy Buffett in the top position of the Overall Top Event of the week, in the week that ended on March 16. Buffett will be on cloud nine as he and the Coral reefer’s are getting ready for their much anticipated world tour “Year of Still Here” which will start from Texas on April 21. Jimmy Buffett has pushed down the Musical band ‘Wicked” to the second place to rein his supremacy. Wicked, was topping this chart for a long time.
Jimmy Buffet remained in the first position of the Top Concert Events List last week also. Jimmy Buffet is followed by Eric Clapton in this list. Eric Clapton has climbed three positions to reach the second place in the list last week. Kenny Chesney is in the third position. Attaining the Overall Top event title will give boost to the ticket sale for the upcoming tour of Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reef band. Parrotheads are planning to celebrate as their idol has reached first in two of the most coveted titles. Fans are hopeful that Jimmy will remain in the top list for many more weeks to come.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef band that are on a whirlwind summer tour all across the US have recently announced that they will be performing at the Detroit Energy Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan on the 10th of June. The Parrotheads will be in large numbers to witness this mega event at the DTE as it will be the first performance of Jimmy Buffett at Detroit since his performance in 2006. The fan groups of Jimmy Buffett, Parrotheads, are pretty much excited at hearing this latest news and are eagerly waiting for the announcement of the ticket prices. The ticket sales will begin on Friday at 10 am.
Since it will be Jimmy Buffett’s performance in Detroit after a gap of two years, it is expected that the tickets will be sold out in a frenzy and so the fans have decided to camp at the ticket venue to purchase their tickets. A cap of six tickets per buyer has been put by the organizers and hence bulk booking by the fans will not be possible. The Parrotheads will be at the DTE centers in large numbers on June 10th with their party gear on and the last Jimmy Buffett performance at Detroit in September 2006 was on a rainy and chilly night.

Jimmy Buffett, the versatile singer and a business magnet, has added a few more locations to his “The Year of Still Here” summer tour and many more concert locations are in the pipeline for which the dates and the venues will be publicized later. The latest places added to his concert tour includes Woodlands in Texas on April 21 and about 12 or more locations across the eastern US in September. He has also booked two night stands in places like Mansfield, MA and Bridgeview, IL. He will be performing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 3rd and tickets to most of these shows are now on sale for the general public.
Buffett has gone all out in support of his 2006’s “Take the Weather with You” that got the number one position on debut on Billboard’s Country Album countdown. He is presenting the 2006 album in all his concert tours all over the US and the Parrot heads will be thronging at all the tour centers to witness their supreme hero perform live in front of them on the stage. Buffett is also busy with his new restaurant that is getting constructed in Waikiki and is to release his new book, “Swine Not” in May.

Jimmy Buffett was born as James William Buffett on Christmas Day in the year 1946 and is the son of James Delaney Buffett Jr. and Mary Loraine. Both his parents are no more and he has two sisters, Lucy Ann and Loraine Marie. He spent his childhood in Alabama and did his elementary schooling in St. Ignatius. Jimmy Buffett showed keen interest towards music right from his school days and did his high school at McGill Institute in Mobile, Alabama which is a Catholic school of boys. He attended the Auburn University and this was the place where he first learned to play the guitar.
Jimmy Buffett graduated in 1969 with a BS degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and worked as a correspondent for the leading musical magazine, Billboard in Nashville. Jimmy Buffett got an opportunity to sign with Barnaby records in 1969 and came up with his first of many albums “Down to Earth” in 1970 which only had 200 copies released. He began to subsequently release albums and with each album and world tour and concerts he became a darling to many music lovers all over the world. Jimmy Buffett was a co-owner of the minor league baseball team named Ft Myers Miracle in 1989 and turned out to be a businessman in the year 2000 with a chain of restaurants. Jimmy Buffett, apart from being a singer, song writer is also well known as a book writer, hotelier, TV as well as a film actor.

Jimmy Buffet, “The Margaretville” singer has selected a supermodel for his new video. the singer has teamed up with the model of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, Brooklyn Decker and made the promos for “Getting the Picture” in St. Barts in the Caribbean Islands. In this new video of Buffet, the stunning beauty, Brooklyn steals the Gentle Singers very attractive guitar. This guitar was signed by Buffet and was used as a prop in the Photographs taken by the Sports illustrated. According to Buffet, for the last six months his guitar was having a goodtime, as it was caressed by some of the most beautiful women in the world.
Buffet is all thrilled with the attention he and his Guitar is getting and he even used his private plane to carry Brooklyn to St Barts for the shoot of his video. The guitar has already travelled around the world and it was handled by Fernanda Motta, Marisa Miller, and Bar Rafaeli for the bikini and nude shots for the illustrated swim suit issue. The guitar which was signed by Jimmy will be auctioned on eBay in order to raise funds for charity work which includes a “Habitat for Humanity Musicians” village and “New Orleans Musicians” Clinic.

Pulaski County from the Last Mango racing stable, which is co- owned by Jimmy Buffet, the music super star won the eighth race that took place in the Fair Grounds in New Orleans. Pulaski County is three years old and the other owners include the coach of New Orleans Saint, Sean Payton, General Manager of the team, Mickey Loomis, Drew Brees the Quarter back and several others. The jockey of the winning horse was Robby Albarado and this was the first ever victory of the Last Mango racing stable. Tom Amoss was the trainer of Pulaski for the race.
Jimmy Buffet and his partners got in to the sport of racing only in the last fall and they entered racing by having a claim of $50,000 for Pulaski County at Keene land. Pulaski County was able to take the command in the mid- stretch of the race and was able to maintain the lead. In wagering, Pulaski paid $7.80, $4 and $3.20 as the second option and the six furlong length was finished in 1: 12.54. The principal owner of last mango and the vice president of communications for NFL franchise, Greg Bensel was very happy about the win. Jimmy Buffet watched the performance of Pulaski County from his boat Last Mango III at St. Bart.

Money raised from the event is intended to benefit Liz Neuf, a St. John’s missionary working in Papua New Guinea.

Summerset Winery is calling all Parrot Heads for the return of Jimmy’s Buffet. The event will be from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Jan. 19. You need only to put on a flowered shirt and straw hat and head to the winery for a casual event. The cost is $45 per person, including dinner with wine and an evening of Jimmy Buffett music, performed by FreeStyle.
